Keep in mind this wasn't advertised, they are just nice! I wanted to have anago meshi so I googled “best anago meshi in hiroshima” and one of the places that came up was Tsuki Akari. Even during breakfast there was a lady serving me and offering my more toasts. You can’t appreciate their size in the picture below but I’ll talk about them in more detail in the Miyajima section of this food guide. With delicious dishes like Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, anago meshi, and the juiciest and plumpest oysters tempting you at every turn, it isn’t hard to see why Hiroshima is a favorite food destination for many Japanese. The stay is in an annex building just a block away.
It was my first trying Hiroshima okonomiyaki so I went with Nagata-ya’s original. The staff! It’s incredibly delicious – crispy on the outside but soft and warm on the inside. Good facilities. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Great hostel - super helpful & kind staff! Very friendly staff, modern hostel and everything very clean.
Quiet enough. As a city, I didn’t think I’d enjoy Hiroshima as much, but I did, and much of that had to do with the food. Featuring free Wi-Fi throughout, a coin launderette and a shared-use kitchen, the entirely non-smoking J Hoppers Guesthouse is a 10-minute walk to the Atomic Bomb Dome.
My research for the best okonomiyaki in Hiroshima led me to Nagata-ya, which is conveniently located just across a pedestrian bridge from Peace Memorial Park. Full equiped kitchen, comfortable communal space, spotless clean. It didn’t come with this particular set but for the full experience, I suggest ordering a pair of fresh oysters as well. Enjoyed, staffs are kindness thank you so much.. So good!
