Designed by leading scale modeller, Jeremy Colllins, this is an easy to build 1:4 scale replica of the glider that prisoners of war built secretly in the roof of Colditz Castle, with the intention of carrying two POW’s on an escape attempt. Only three made it home. Travelling either in pairs or small groups, most headed for neutral Switzerland, but eventually all were recaptured. The tunnel was completed by May and the break out took place on the night of 3-4 June. The remainder were all recaptured and 50 of them were murdered on Hitler's orders. Plans to fly a copy of the Colditz Cock were confounded, not by Nazis or cautious escape officers, but by the boring old weather.
