STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State University has accepted an invitation to join the Western Athletic Conference effective July 1, 2020, it was announced today at a news conference. The WAC crowns team and individual champions in 19 sports – eight men's and 11 women's championships. Tarleton accepted an invitational to the WAC on Nov. 12, 2019 after a storied history as a member of the Lone Star Conference.

The invitation is contingent on Tarleton completing the four-year reclassification process from NCAA Division II.
