One rejection after 5 days; one after 26. Not entirely sure what to make of this, but the journal is definitely still alive and kicking. Submitted essay for review in June 2014. Not sure if this is a plus or a minus. We currently publish one themed print issue annually in addition to online content.Submission Guidelines, Prairie Schooner Prairie Schooner is published in cooperation with the University of Nebraska Press and the Creative Writing Program of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln English Department and is endowed by the Glenna Luschei Endowed Editorship and Fund for Excellence at Prairie Schooner.Submission Guidelines, A Public SpaceA Public Space is an independent nonprofit publisher of an eponymous award-winning literary, arts, and culture magazine, and A Public Space Books. I also did not have the problems with communication that some of the previous posters experienced: the editorial assistants corresponded promptly via email (acknowledging receipt of my submission or addressing concerns I had about timeline; I probably corresponded half a dozen times over email with two different assistants). Help during the production process was astute and professional. Article submitted received a revise-and-resubmit exactly one month later; I was very happy with the turn-around time. All the magazines and journals are listed in alphabetical order; their descriptions come from their websites or social media profiles, and we do not own those descriptions. I get that they don't do reader reports, and am grateful for the quick turnaround to rejection. A negative experience here: this journal sent my paper to a biased and unacademic peer reviewer whose major contribution was a Wikipedia entry. And quick! (2016). Reviewer 1 was extremely positive and recommended it for publication. A colleague suggested that I call the journal, but I'm hesitant to do this. A frustrating experience. Sent in an article (hardcopy, as directed) in December 2013. Submitted, and waited the requisite six months for a revise-and-resubmit decision. Paper submitted July 2018; Revise and Resubmit Sept 2018, with one reader's report noting large, argument-level changes/challenges; resubmitted Nov 2018, ultimately rejected Feb 2019, but with a second readers' report and helpful comments from the editor. Nice people. November 2019: Polite form rejection after 5 weeks with no reader's comments. Speedy one-line rejection. We believe that the only way for society to change is for people’s voices to be heard. A fast turnaround, and the essay was accepted without revisions, but they're annual, so the wait to see the piece in print is long. Accepted with suggested revisions on June 27. As of January 2016, I still haven't heard from them. Mythic PicnicA hybrid cross between a literary magazine and twitter — a twitterary magazine. What I will say is, the period editor also employed a graduate assistant of some type to proofread, and this was not so helpful, as he made some actual errors (his advice conflicted with the RES style sheet) and also some poorly advised stylistic recommendations. We like reading words that hold a mirror up to ourselves — something that reflects the truth of being human over the oceans of uncertainty.Submission Guidelines, PloughsharesPloughshares has published quality literature since 1971.
