And the author didn't address how Ning Que recovered from SangSang wounding him permanently at one very important point. Forget it. The ideas are where it shines, and there are a surprising amount of set pieces in the story interspersed with novel astronomical and psychological concepts. There is a group of astronomers who believe their planet is on the brink of catastrophe. WTH? How did Ning Que and Sangsang survived in the end when it was written there that he died somewhere during the transition of the new world? When she became Haotian, she was way too cruel to everyone else especially Ning Que. You can't help but want to smack everyone in the mouth. OMG, this is so puzzling! Their styles are compatible if not precisely similar. In 1968, the Science Fiction Writers of America voted "Nightfall" the best science fiction short story written prior to the 1965 establishment of the Nebula Awards, and included it in mundane things that happened, yet there is still a strong sexist undertone (which seems to be the case with all the Chinese novels).
